44Scout ("we", "us", "our") operates the website 44scout.com, a platform connecting football players with scouts and clubs. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why, and what rights you have over it.

1. Who we are

44Scout is operated by Nick Braithwaite, trading as 44Scout, based in Sweden. You can contact us at info@44scout.com with any questions about this policy or your data.

2. What data we collect

• Account data: username, email address, and a securely hashed password.
• Player profile data: first and last name, date of birth, nationality, playing position, current club, height, preferred foot, and bio, where provided.
• Media: profile avatar images and video highlights (either uploaded files or links to YouTube/Vimeo) you choose to add.
• Career statistics: season-by-season stats you enter (appearances, goals, assists, etc.).
• Messages: the content of messages you send to other users through the platform.
• Usage data: when your profile is viewed, we record the viewer's IP address and (if logged in) their account, to power the profile-view counter and prevent abuse.
• Payment data: if you make a payment, our payment processors (Stripe and PayPal) handle your card or account details directly — we never see or store full card numbers. We keep a record of the transaction (amount, status, date) for our own accounting.

3. How we use your data

• To create and operate your account and profile.
• To let players and scouts find and message each other.
• To process one-time player payments and scout subscriptions.
• To send transactional emails (e.g. new message notifications, profile view notifications).
• To maintain the security of the platform and prevent fraud or abuse.

4. Our legal basis for processing

We process most of your data because it's necessary to provide the service you've signed up for (performance of a contract). We rely on legitimate interest for basic security and abuse-prevention measures, and on consent for anything non-essential, such as optional cookies (see our Cookies Policy).

5. Who we share your data with

We share payment details with Stripe and PayPal solely to process payments. Other users can see the parts of your profile you've made public (name, position, club, stats, highlights, bio). We do not sell your data to third parties or use it for advertising.

6. International data transfers

Stripe and PayPal may process data outside the European Economic Area. Where this happens, it is covered by their own standard contractual clauses and compliance frameworks.

7. Data retention

We keep your account and profile data for as long as your account is active. If you'd like your account and associated data deleted, contact us at info@44scout.com.

8. Your rights

If you're in the EU/EEA, UK, or a jurisdiction with similar protections, you have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or export your data, and to object to certain processing. You can also lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority — in Sweden, this is the Swedish Authority for Privacy Protection (IMY).

9. Children's data

44Scout is not intended for anyone under 16. We ask for your date of birth when you sign up and do not create accounts for people under 16. If we learn that an account belongs to someone under 16, we will delete it and the data connected to it. If you believe a child under 16 has registered, please contact us at info@44scout.com.

People aged 16 and 17 may use the platform. We encourage parents and guardians to be involved in how young players use it, including who they message and what they share.

10. Security

We use industry-standard measures — including encrypted connections (HTTPS) and hashed passwords — to protect your data. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to safeguard your information.

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected with an updated "last updated" date above.
